February 2012 Newsletter
February Quilt Gallery – The QuiltWorks Gallery features two wonderful winter exhibits through the end of February. Sally Rogers of Eagle Crest will be our Featured Quilter. Sally's work is mostly traditional with precision piecing. Our theme exhibit for February honors American Healthy Heart month with heart-themed, pink, and red and white quilts. The staff will be donning red, white and pink for the First Friday event on February 3rd from 5PM to 7PM and we welcome you to wear those colors at the event, too!
QuiltWorks Classes – We have lots of classes starting in February and there's still room in some of them. Jill Monley will be teaching Dog Daze, one of our most popular patterns. Vickie Anast is teaching Diamond Jubilee which is great quilt scrappy or with a theme. Crys is teaching Petal Paradise which incorporates the one-block wonder in a new way; it's really stunning. And she's also offering Scrappy Crossroads, transforming an old block in to a new one. Kim McCray is teaching a class on Tee-Shirt quilts and that's a fun way to turn those beloved memories into a quilt. We're working on our spring classes so if you have a request come in and let us know.
Novel Idea – We have about 45 gals participating in the Deschutes County Library's “A Novel Idea” this year. The quilts will be unveiled at our First Friday event on April 6th. The novel, Rules of Civility by Amor Towles, was just revealed to the public recently. The library has lots of copies and we encourage you to read it as well and participate in some of their programs during the month of April. This is our second year being involved and we are thrilled with so many gals participating.
March Quilt Gallery – Kristin Shields will be our Featured Quilter and it will be a visual feast to see what she gives us to exhibit. Kristin isn't afraid to go outside the box and all of her work is interesting.
Long Arm Quilting – Julia Jeans and Kim McCray offer expert professional long arm quilting at reasonable prices. The work is performed at the shop on a Gammill machine. Pick up information on our services and costs from the front desk.
Never A Dull Moment – Sharpening services available for scissors and all kinds of tools. Drop them off during the week and pick them up on Thursday.
